10 Macungie, PA  Bear Creek XTERRA 21K Trail Run 07/18/10: Challenging course, run on a VERY hot and sticky day!

10 Macungie, PA Bear Creek XTERRA 10K Trail Run 07/18/10

10 Birdsboro, PA Double Trouble 30K Trail Run 06/27/10: Hotter than a Shakira music video. Many talked about doing the 30k; only the brave and the demeneted actually followed thru on that boast.

10 Birdsboro, PA Double Trouble 15K Trail Run 06/27/10: Point scoring race for the USA T & F Off Road series and the Trail Runner Magazine National Series. Runners from 8 states plus Washington, DC.

10 Coatesville, PA Mid-Atlantic XTERRA Midweek Trail Run #4: last race in the evening series; next XTERRA trail race is at Bear Creek Resort in mid-July

10 Philadelphia, PA (Chestnut Hill)  Wissahickon Trail Classic 10k 06/05/10: excellent event but VERY hot and VERY humid. A record crowd of entrants.

10 St Peters, PA  Mid-Atlantic XTERRA Midweek Trail Run #3: at Warwick Park. The rather got waether was somewhat reduced by the 2 creek crossings.

10 Plowville, PA  Charlie Horse Half Marathon Point to Point Trail Run: A TOASTY one to say the least. As if the course wasn't hard enough, the black flys seem to have something against the runners. Thank God for the beer stop on a hot and buggy day like this!  Poeple will be talking about the mudhole in the last mile for some time.

10 Coatesville, PA  Mid-Atlantic XTERRA Midweek Trail Run #2: at Hibernia Park. Listed at 5k.

Park. Listed at 5k10 Reading, PA  Dark & Dirty 6.66 Mile Nighttime Trail Run 05/15/10: a beautiful night to be in the woods. High 60's with a slight wind. Everyone seemed to like the course changes, including the muddy section followed by the 15 ft, 35 degree uphill. The post race party went on until past 2 AM at the Liederkranz bar.  The only quirk of the night was the race shirt that listed that it was the "Fifth Annual" when we've only ever had 3 of them. Oh well, what do you expect from the same people that bring you the Half Wit!

10 Evansburg, PA  Mudder Mayhem 7M Trail Race 05/08/10: great course, very well marked.

10  St Peters, PA  Mid-Atlantic XTERRA Midweek Trail Run #1: at Warwick Park, Approx 3.3M and one TUFF course

10 Wilmington, DE  Andrew Mein Memorial Excellent Adventure 7 mile (more or less) Trail Run 05/01/10: the DuPont estate proved to be as gorgeous as promised. The almost 100 people that showed up raved about the course. There is some discussion in 2011 of allowing runners to compete in 1 or 2 loops of the course; with awards in both. Many runners finished the run and then rode the course on their Mt Bike to take in more of the beautiful scenery.  To see photos of the event, go to http://www.pbase.com/dens/saturday_gran10

10 Reading, PA  Mt Penn Mudfest  15K Trail Run 04/03/10: After 2 years of rotten weather, the gods smiled down warmly on this Pagoda Pacers event. VERY warmly, in fact, with temps in the high 70's and bright sunshine. The course was changed in 2005 and all course records exist from that date. Both the first and 2nd males broke the exiting course record of 59:04 and the first female set a course record as well.  Top male was from NC and the top 3 women were from Colorado, NY and Utah, in that order, in this kickoff for the 2010 La Sportiva National Mountain Running Championship. Registration for the 2011 Mudfest will open on www.pretzelcitysports.com on Jan 1, 2011

10 Media, PA  Tyler Arboretum 10K Trail Run 03/27/10: Biggest turnout in years. A DelcoRRC event!

10 Reading, PA Trimax St Pattys Scramble 15k Trail Run 03/21/10

10 Reading, PA Trimax St Pattys Scramble 6k TRail Run 03/21/10

10 Reading, PA  Ugly Mudder 6.75M Trail Run: Perhaps the hardest, most fun and most memorable race ever held by Pretzel City Sports. The first 40-50 runners had to contend with snow that sank 10-12 inches with each step and some places on the course, 18-30 inches. The rest of the runners got to run in somewhat more packed snow but anybody that tried to pass, went right up to their mid-shins in white stuff. The course was changed in a few spots, at the very last minute, for safety reasons. Needless to say, there was no time to measure it but we knew that we had shortened it. The Garman's of two people we know showed 6.6 miles and 6.67 miles. However, GPS systems are well known to shorten a distance where there are considerable elevation changes and heavy woods (page 26, Nov 09 issue of Trail Runner).  Both exist in this course. As such, we believe that 6.75M is the approx distance that the course covered.

10 Reading, PA  Chilly Cheeks 7.2M Trail Run 01/24/10: It was a day for records. A record 684 registrants entered, exceeded the record for entries set in 2007 by 35%, with runners  coming from such far away places as Calfornia, Massachusetts and Vermont.   And our female champion broke the exisiting womens' course record by a startling 5 minutes, 23 seconds. The top two males put approx. 5 minutes between them and the rest of the field, and everyone is still trying to figure out what Mt. Mud and Mt. WhadDaFug are doing in a trail race. Check back here later this week for the URL of a site where you can buy pictures of the race. AND THANK YOU ALL FOR ONE OF THE MOST FUN "CHEEKS" WE'VE EVER HAD!

09 Birdsboro, PA French Creek State Park  Dirty Bird 15k Trail Run 11/29/09: Due to a record turnout, we ran out of finisher glasses. I have ordered more. If you did not get one, check with me at a future Pretzel City Sports event and i will probably have one for you with me.

09 Media, PA  Ridley Creek State Park, Media Mud STain 5M Trail Run 11/15/09

09 Macungie, PA Bear Creek Fall Trail Classic 10k  11/08/09

09 Evansburg, PA  Evansburg Challenge 10M Trail Run 10/25/09: Perhaps the 2nd muddiest the trail has been in its history. 1st water crossing eliminated due to very strong currents.

09 Birdsboro, PA  Pagoda Pacers Berks Jr High Championship-Girls 10/24/09

09 Birdsboro, PA  Pagoda Pacers Berks Jr High Championship-Boys  10/24/09

09 Reading, PA  Ghouls & Fools 6.6M Nighttime Trail Run: a chilly and damp night, although it rained just a small amount during the event. But there was mud aplenty on the course after 3 full days of rain beforehand. Course was shortened to 6.6 miles after the rain caused 1 part of the trail to practically be unrecognizable.  Everyone had a Hoot!!

09 Malvern, PA  Radnor Red 5k Steeplechase Run 10/11/09:  Everyone had an amazing time.

09 Alloway, NJ  Camp Edge Muddy Bottom, Crazy 8k Mud Run 10/10/09:  Probably the muddiest event that Pretzel City Sports has timed in it's 14 year existence.

09 Ridley Creek State Park, Wascally Wabbit Twail Wun 5 Miler  09/12/09

09 Birdsboro, PA  Hit the Hay 8.4 Mile Trail Run 08/30/09

09 Birdsboro, PA Double Trouble 30k Trail Run 06/28/09: a beautiful day on the woods led to a record crowd of finishers in the 30k.

09 Hibernia Park XTERRA Evening Trail 5M-4th event: another rainy night in the woods!

09 Philadelphia, PA Wissahickon Trail 10k Classic 06/06/09: record number of registrants. Slightly overcast day that turned beautiful by race time.

09 Philadelphia, PA Wissahickon Trail Classic 5k Walk 06/06/09: some people enjoyed the walk so much that they opted to continue past the 5k turnaround.

09 Warwick Park XTERRA Evening Trail 5k 3rd race: chance of rain but it never did. Creek crossing.

09 Plowville, PA Charlie Horse Half Marathon 13.1M Trail Run: An outrageous mud pit and multiple boulder fields highlighted the last mile of this wonderful event.

09 Hibernia Park XTERRA Evening Trail 5k 2nd race: BEAUTIFUL night for a run!

09 Reading, PA  Dark & Dirty 6.66M Nightime Trail Run: The brief 15 minute thunderstorm that occurred 25 minutes into the event and the subsequent fog that enveloped the mountain right after the storm has added to the lore of the already legendary race. All had a memorable night, all bodies have been recovered and only a few of the 452 finishers will need long term psychological counseling.

09 Evansburg, PA Mudder Mayhem 7M Trail Run 05/09/09: Some runners inadvertently ran only a portion of the course. Where this could be ascertained, they are identifed and were discounted in the awards.

09 Warwick Park  Xterra Evening Trail 5k 1st race: the race was held in perhaps the only 1-2 hr span that day where it didn't rain.

09 Reading, PA Mt Penn Mudfest 15k Trail Run 04/11/09: A cold, and steady rain made for a muddy delight and we had our largest number of finishers ever. No one died and no one went home clean and, after all, isn't that what its all about! Finishers from 12 states, Wash DC, and both England & Canada. Registration for the 2010 Mudfest will open Jan 1, 2010 on this site.

09 Media, PA DELCO RRC Tyler Arboretum 10K Trail Race 04/04/09:  Record number of finishers on a day when it was so windy that it's a wonder that many of the trees in the arboretum stayed upright.

09 Reading, PA TriMax St Patty's Scramble 7.4M Trail Run: nice day to be running thru the woods!!

09 Reading, PA Ugly Mudder 7.25M Trail Run: bare trails but snow showers going on throughout the race led to a surreal day in the woods. Due to the changes in the course from years past, the winning times become the course record. Amazing race by Daryl Weaver who won by a margin of over 5 minutes. 762 registrants; our 2nd biggest Ugly Mudder ever.  To the best of our knowledge, this event is the 4th largest rustic trail run in the United States and 2nd largest East of the Rockies. There was a professional photographer on course and you can find out if he captured you or purchase pictures at http://shires.smugmug.com/gallery/7428568_QiTN9/1/478831372_bcyL6

09 Reading, PA Chilly Cheeks 7.2M Trail Run: sunny day with 27 degree temps. Congrats to Wesley Bonilla for reducing his course record by 1 min, 5 seconds. A total of 495 people registered for the eent, with about 470 showing up and about 462 finishing.

08 Birdsboro, PA French Creek Park, Dirty Bird 15K Trail Run 11/30/08: the wet conditions caused the printer head to fail. As such, as we recorded more and more times, the times on the printout became lighter and lighter. The times listed are as best we could read them. The sooner you finished, the better we could read the printout.

08 Reading, PA TriMax Blue Marsh Fall Trail Run 11/09/08

08 McGuire AFB, NJ McGuire MudRun 10k-Individuals 11/08/08

08 Radnor, PA Radnor Red Run 5k Steeplechase Run 10/12/08

08 Reading, PA Dark & Dirty 6.66M Nighttime Trail Run 10/11/08: Perhaps the most outrageous and fun race that Pretzel City Sports has ever held. If anyone is still lost on the mountain, we are not aware of it but should find the body(s) soon.

08 Media, PA TriMax Fall Ridley Creek Park 5M Trail Run 10/12/08

08 Birdsboro, PA TriMax Fall French Creek 6.5M Trail Run 09/28/08

08 Media, PA Ridley Creek Park, Wascally Wabbitt Twail Wun 5 Miler

08 Birdsboro, PA  Hit the Hay 8.4M Trail Run: The raves are coming in on how awesome this trail is. Beautiful, tuff and diverse. Keep the Sunday of Labor Day open for 2009.

08 Reading, PA Half Wit Half 13.1M Trail Run:  2nd version, some misreads of bar codes corrected. Some of the most comfortable weather conditions for this event in several years. Due to the significant changes in the course this year, which actually made it just a shade tougher, the Male and Female times become the course record. Despite the increase in difficulty, Mike Dixon became the first runner in the history of the race to break 1:30 for the event!

08 Downingtown, PA Marsh Creek Raptor 10M Run:  Final results. One small correction to a first name made.

08 Downingtown, PA  Marsh Creek Raptor 5M Run: Final results. Award winners, as announced that day, were correct. Transposed bib number led to error in results posted since race. Now corrected.

08 Nottingham, PA  Mid-Atlantic Xterra 21K Trail Run 07/20/08: Point scoring race for national Xterra series. VERY hot; heat advisory issued for Phila region for both raceday and day before.

08 Nottingham, PA  Mid-Atlantic Xterra 10k Trail Run 07/20/08:

08 Allentown, PA Herbert's Off Road 7.7M Run 07/12/08: A wonderful  turnout for this 1st off  road event ever in Allentown. Course was a nice mix of cross country, some rustic trail, a very small patch of road and one of the funnier almost waist deep creek crossings that you have ever seen!

08 French Creek State Park Double Trouble 15k Trail Run 06/22/08: No rain, no severe humidity and no bones sticking thru the skin as a result of a fall. All and all, a sunny and wonderful day for our 320 entries. Master runners took 2nd place overall in both 15k and 30k; outstanding performances. Competitors came from 10-12 states including Wisconsin, Tennessee, Maine, North Caroline, Northern Ohio; also a competitor from Australia and our 15k male winner is a transplant from Italy; now living in Collegeville.

08 French Creek State Park  Double Trouble 30k Trail Run 06/22/08

08 Hibernia Park, Chester Co  4th Xterra Evening Race 5M  06/18/08

08 Wilmington, DE  Brandywine River 15K Trail Run 06/08/08:  HORRIBLY hot and OUTRAGEUOSLY humid run. Actual distance was 9.4M, as announced beforehand. Smaller creek crossings had all dried up but the 2 river crossings were waist deep (and appreciated on this day) and the new course developed by race director Mike was a TOTAL HIT!!

08 Phila., PA Wissahickon 10k (more or less) Trail Classic 06/07/08:  VERY hot and VERY humid slightly more than 10k trail enjoyed by runners throughout the Mid-Atlantic states as well as California, Washington State and our 51st state, France.

08 Warwick Park, Chester Co 3rd Xterra Evening 5k 06/04/08

08 Media, PA TriMax Ridley Creek Park Spring 5M Trail Run 04/06/08

08 Reading, PA Mt Penn Mudfest 15k Trail Run 03/22/08:  The earliest Mudfest in history saw the March event start with a snowstorm, revert to snow and sunshine at the start and end in 50 degree, sunny weather. Starting with the launching of a pig some 200 ft in the air, Tom Haxton blistered the course used since 2000 and broke the course record by 40 seconds. Wet feet and muddy legs were the order of the day. Registration for the 2009 Mudfest, scheduled for Sat, April 11, opens on Jan 1 on www.pretzelcitysports.com.Thanks to all that attended this most memorable event!!!

08 Reading, PA TriMax St Patty's Scramble, 7.4M Trail Run 03/15/08

08 Reading, PA Ugly Mudder 7.25M Trail Run 02/17/08: The day was rather decent for a winter race and the trails were 80-90% clear of snow and ice; a HUGE difference over last year's polar cap expedition. We had finishers from 11 states (including Maine, New Hampshire, Mass. and Wisconsin), the District of Columbia and London, England.  Two small problems did develop. First, the stallions that led the race had such visions of glory in their eyes that they blew by one set of turns at 8/10th of a mile and found marks about 100 yards later that were at the 2 mile mark. Some 300-340 of the 622 finishers followed them  like housewifes to a underwear sale at Target and  ended up running a 6 mile course, not 7.25M.  That is why the times seem very spread out. Fortunately, some 97% of all those that won awards ran the same course so no harm, no foul.  Also, we had 5th place awards in F30-39 & F40-49  which I completely  forgot to present. MY BAD! Please check the results to see if you are one of the 2 young ladies that we hosed!  A good day was had by most, a LOT of German beer was drank and, hopefully, all made it home safely

08 Reading, PA Chilly Cheeks 7.2M Trail Run 01/20/08:  The results listed here are final. The 3 additional tags that threw the finishing places off have been incorporated and the finishing place listed for you is now correct.  We also identified the 3 times that were inadvertently added to the time tape (sometimes, gloves hit buttons that aren't meant to be hit) and all times should now be "right on".  Race temperature was about 22 degrees with a "real feel" temperature of about 0-2 degrees.

07 Birdsboro, PA   Dirty Bird 15k Trail Run, French Creek Statet Park 11/25/07: Thanks to the 485 registrants who came from 12 states and the District of Columbia (including CO, MN, GA, VT, NC & OH).  For those that didn't get a finisher's cup, I will have more printed and will carry these around with me to the various races I attend.  Just let me know a few days before an event that you didn't get one and that I should bring one along.  Sorry, as the app indicates, they are glass and will not be mailed!!!

07 Birdsboro, PA  TriMax French Creek 5M & 10M Trail Runs 11/11/07: Graet race on a nippy but very sunny day. Our regrets for any misspellings or incorrect ages but  red markers used to fill in the tags  'ran"  from sweat and water  and some of the info was impossibile to read  when typing up the results.

07 Evansburg, PA  Evansburg Challenge 10M Trail Run 10/28/07: The race directors have asked me to extend an apology for unexpected problems on their part. For the first time in 10 years, the park unexpectedly closed the road into the park to insure the safety of the 5k runners. This prevented the 7 mile aide station people from getting to their assignment and prevented some late comers from getting to registration. This closure was totally unexpected but will be planned for next year. Aside from that, it was one HECK of a beautiful day in the park.

07 Media, PA  TriMax Ridley Creek 5K & 10K Trail Runs 10/20/07: People that finished this event said that the trail was awesome and had everything that you could want in a trail run other than snipers and creek crossings.

07 Reading, PA Half Wit Half 13.1M Trail Run 08/12/07: Congrats to the 471 finishers and especially Mike Dixon of Fanwood NJ who set raced to a course record!!! Heat but the humidity was bearable. Entries came from 17 states (plus Wash, DC) including California, New Mexico, Washington, & Colorado along with a woman who we forgot to introduce at the starting line from Stuttgart, Germany!!

07 Downingtown PA Marsh Creek Raptor Trail 10M Run 07/22/07: Scroll down this page to see the 5M & 10M results from last year. Both top males set course records.

07 Downingtown, PA Marsh Creek Raptor Trail 5M Run 07/22/07: Spoke with the race director and the bathroom line problem WILL be addressed for next year. His apologies

07 Elverson, PA Double Trouble 30K Trail Run 06/24/07: How nice was the weather? Nice enough to give us our largest number of finishers in the 30k ever: 31 more than ever before, a record by almost 35%. Race date for next year: Sunday, June 22, 2008. Check out your pics at www.kenshelton.com

07 Elverson, PA Double Trouble 15k Trail Run 06/24/07: As sometimes happens when 2 races are finishing at the same time & place, we had a different number of finishing times as we did finishers. At worst, they are off by 1 or 2 places. If yours is wrong, use whatever was on your watch or whatever you saw on the clock; if you were not too fried to remember it. Check out the pics taken that day at www.kenshelton.com.

07 Wilmington, DE Faithful Friends 5k Trail Run 06/10/07: Very rolling course on grassy trails in Brandywine Park. Very much a cross country course.

07 Phila, PA Wissahickon Trail 10k Res 06/02/07: HOT, HUMID and beautiful! Almost a 100% increase in attendance over 2006

07 Phila, PA Wissahickon Trail 5k Walk Res 06/02/07

07 Plowville, PA Charlie Horse 13.1M Trail Run 05/27/07: A scorcher but boy, was it great to see the Pagoda Pacers bring this race back! My compliments to them and especially race director Greg DeLand!

07 Valley Forge, PA Run for the Sparrows 5k Trail Run Results 05/19/07 The last few runners listed got lost & finished after the timing equipment was turned off. Their times are educated guesses.

07 Hamburg, PA Northern Berks Quad 5M Trail Run Results

07 Mt Penn Mudfest 15k Trail Run Results: It's Spring but you wouldn't know it from the race, as flurries actually occurred during the awards system. The creeks were chilly, the race was silly, many passed a crime scene on the way to the start and Sugar & Spice rocked away despite the frigid conditions. Thanks to all that attended. Registration for the 2008 Mt Penn Mudfest will open at 12:01 AM of Jan 1, 2008 on www.active.com-stay up, party, kiss your honey and then enter this stupid event! Also, check www.pagodapacers.com periodically for pictures that we'll post of the race. To see Ken Shelton's great race photos that are available for purchase, go to www.backprint.com/go.asp?19006503

07 Ugly Mudder 7.2M Trail Results : Thanks to all the crazies that showed up to do the most memorable race many of you will ever do. Click on the race name for results; they are preliminary. 4 tags fell of the board as they were being loaded and, unfortunately, there are 8 places on the results where there are "blanks". If you can not find your name, please share your fi07 cc results.pdfnish time or place with me so i can make these results more "complete". If you woud like to see the photos that were taken at the race, click here: http://www.backprint.com/view_event.asp?PID=273&EVENTID=18733&PWD=

07 Chilly Cheeks 7.2M Trail Run Results: Two clarifications on the times. Somewhere after the first 320 runners, a few people ran across the finish line a second time with a friend who was just finishing. That gave us 3 more times than runners. So, I eliminated 3 times that appeared to be "clustered" so that more folks later in the race would have a more accurate time listed. Also, finish times are expressed in minutes and seconds due to the limitation of a program I am using. Posted 1/22/07 at 3:20 PM
