Runs along a state-recognized trout stream on a "rails to trails" flat and fast pathway made of crushed stone and dirt. BEAUTIFUL finish. 500-600 entries in 2009. Awards go VERY deep in most age groups. A challenging course with no water crossings but lots of rocks, roots, steep ascents and descents, urban relics and even the legendary 128 Steps from Hell. Evan a bushwacking section where there is no trail except marks on the trees. Normally draws 500 entries. Unique format where people are sent off in different waves according to national standards for how far their gender and age group normally finish out of first place. If done properly, it is not unususal to see 10-15 people of varying ages and genders come into the finish line at the same time, sprinting for first overall. VERY wide and clean trails for the most part, but some hills. First real trail run in Berks County's prettiest park. Unique race using a 5 mile, wheel measured loop. Do as many loops as you choose before 8 PM. Awards go to those that go the furthest. Longest milestone completed will also be recognized thru your finisher award: Marathon, 50k, 50M or 100K. No partial laps will be counted, except when stopping at a milestone distance. Spend an afternoon running in anything from your snowmobile suit to your birthday suit. Legitimate race with awards; clother runers more than welcome!! Must be 18 or older to compete, will ask for ID if necessary. Use of full Sunny Rest Resort facility with entry. Spectators & family members must pay $10 admission fee to enter resort. (evening) 10/23/10 Ghouls & Fools 6.5M (more or less) Nighttime Trail Run: A Pretzel City Sports event. Outrageously fun race with all the weird and unique things you expect in a PCS race; cool tech shirts, aide stations with alternative beverages, a great post-race get-together with cash bar, glow lights for all entries, etc. Due to new restrictions from local officials, a new course is being developed for 2010.
